Root Canal Treatment Springfield
Pulling the Plug on Dental Pain
It’s worth saying right out of the gate—root canal treatment does NOT cause pain. The truth is actually the opposite—it’s one of the best methods we have for stopping the worst toothaches quickly and avoiding extractions. Movies and TV have given this procedure a bad rap, but the pain attributed to it often stems from the toothaches it’s meant to treat. At Grand Dental Studio, root canal treatment isn’t some obstacle you have to overcome, but a reliable solution that can offer the relief you deserve. What Happens During a Root Canal?
We use root canal treatment to stop infections that have reached the interior soft tissue of a tooth, called the pulp. After numbing the area, a small hole is created in the enamel, and this allows the dentist to remove the infected pulp, clean the interior of the tooth (the actual root canals), and then fill it. This stops the source of the pain, prevents the infection from getting worse, and saves the tooth so that a patient doesn’t have to deal with the time and expense of replacing it.
